| A call from a friend to do a public service announcement for a WW II Memorial fund raiser, brought John Sferra and Daniel Pecchio back to Youngstown and the Y103 radio studios. A spontaneous on air interview led to the question; when did they and band mate Phil Keaggy last play as Glass Harp in their hometown of Youngstown, Ohio. That simple query put into motion a project that came to fruition October 22, 2000 at a sold out Powers Auditorium. That night on stage with conductor Isaiah Jackson and members of the Youngstown Symphony, Glass Harp proved you CAN come home. Glass Harp recorded that evening for posterity. They never anticipated the combination of 30 musicians, 26 songs, countless hours of orchestrating and transcription, with a limited 5-hour rehearsal with the Symphony, would yield what each member of Glass Harp hailed as his finest performance. The response to the show was overwhelming. The symphony, critics, fans and Glass Harp knew this was a night to remember, enjoy and share again. The next question was could the show translate to CD. After all, Glass Harp had not intended this to be a commercial release. There were technical problems to deal with: the large volume and diversity of material, and capturing the intangible spirit of that evening. Many hours of mixing and editing have gone into a wonderful representation of the depth and breadth of Glass Harps material. Please enjoy a banquet of music in this truly special performance. Let it nourish your musical soul. |
